RitusAR

The action of the observer

What is RitusAr?

RitusAr is a collective act that has been evolving since 2018, having undergone significant development; thanks to the performances carried out in each project individually, this concept was created, which has a projection of social impact. Performance serves as a tool for collective liberation, both psychologically and therapeutically, with its importance in the social and cultural sphere. The observer as an active element of the act allows, time and again, for a fusion between the observer and the observed (the spectator and the artist), achieving a purifying liberation. The proposal is to interpret a concept that the artist presents each year and weave it together after six previous laboratories as workshops that will serve society to enter into the experimentation of the proposed concept, releasing tensions not only through the collective encounter in a public or private space as the final work, but also the possibility of personal exploration throughout the intimacy that each creative laboratory entails, responsible for accompanying, providing, and introducing the tools to carry out the final performance and at the same time tools for each individual being. RitusAr is composed of two words: "Ritus" comes from the Latin "ritus" or "ritual" and refers to symbolic acts that seek the release of tensions and the elevation of vibration. The second is the Indo-European root of AR, which means movement. All the scenography and concepts are based on solid foundations, theories that the artist VIVIANA GAVIRIA BAENA has experimented with, among which stand out the premise of total silence, from the writer and Zen Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh, and through directed and spontaneous actions as performed by the pioneer of contemporary dance, Pina Baush.

It can be said that RitusAR is a cathartic and creative space that seeks to be a means of collective resonance in which emphasis is placed on responsibility as an individual.
